Days 5 and 6 in Bodo, Norway

Sorry folks, I’m having a little difficulty getting things to post correctly, I’ll keep trying…

We’vem now been Bodo for two whole days.  It’s been very exciting as we’ve been able to meet face to face with some of the teams we’ve been reading about and conversing via email with.

Yesterday we were able to go on a scavenger hunt with a team from Jordan (Nanologists).  They are very fun loving group that our kids mixed very well with.  The other team we were with was the Oncu Robotics team from Turkey.  These kids are really smart, but they are younger than our kids and there is a pretty large language barrier.  Hopefully we’ll have the opportunity to cheer them on during the tournament.

Today was the big May 17th parade where everyone in Norway walks in their Independence day parade.  It was really neat to see all the traditional clothing that all thee Norwegians were wearing.

After the parade, we were spirited away to a local elementary school where they served cake and coffee and the kids gave speeches.  Our kids spent most of their time challenging the local kids to a game of soccer.  We never were told what the final score was, so I expect that means the locals won – but they all seemed to have had a good time.

Tomorrow, we head out for our only day of practice to get ready for the tournament.  We are hoping for a productive day.

At night, Mr. Blacksmith has been going through a passage in Job talking about “With God, all things are possible”.  They have been really good messages that have made us all think – and consider just why all this came about.  And we are all excited to see just what’s going to come out of it all!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRODY!!!!! I don’t know how we’ll ever top this birthday. I bet you’ll want to jet set for every birthday from now on. Next time though – I’m going with you :-) ! We love you so much and are so happy for you and the team. We do miss you terribly (Faith is sleeping in your bed again tonight). Know I’m thinking of you all the time – and thanking God everyday for bringing you into this world 12 years ago. I love you honey! Mom
